Access to the towpath, when distinct from water's edge.

In places where the towpath isn't immediately adjacent/level to moorings at the water's edge, should \"via steps\"/\"suitable for wheels\" represent access to the towpath itself or to a boat moored at the place?

This mostly applies to rivers, where the towpath often runs along the top of the bank with moorings accessed by steps or steep informal paths.

The wording obviously suggests the first one, but for users the latter might be more useful.

Alternatively, in the fields for adding a mooring there could be a \"wheeled access from the towpath\" checkbox.

It's obviously meant to apply to access to the towpath from off the canal.

We risk overloading the system with data options that only apply in a very small percentage of places and then finding no-one actually provides us with that data - which has happened several tiles.   Access could be added as a option on moorings I guess -
