problem generating PDFs of Itinerary

When I try to generate a pdf of a planned route I get the error message:

Marker places in route:
Your route has been planned with marker places turned on. This cannot be used in conjunction with PDF generation.

How do I turn Marker Places off?

I have gone to: Preferences/Exclusions/Types of places and unchecked marker places from all three columns but this makes no difference and  I cant see where else I might turn Marker places off.

I have previously generated PDFs of my itinerary without any problem, I cant work out what I might have changed to break this!

is it me or is it a bug?
