Is it possible to share a route, via a URL?

Hi there, thank you for Canalplan!

Let's say I have found a route, say from Redhill Lock No 59 to Shardlow. I can see the results with all the lovely detail. However, the URL for the results is the generic CGI one, i.e. https://canalplan.uk/cgi-bin/canal.cgi (as I guess the design is that the route calculation is submitted via POST). I'd love to be able to share that route detail with my son, by sending him a URL that would have him land specifically on the details for (again, just in this example) Redhill Lock No 59 to Shardlow.

Is this possible? I've looked around and not found the option; I've also looked through the \"How do I?\" section, and perused the issues. It could well be me missing something, sorry.

Thanks
DJ

Yes - there's a load and save menu on the left hand side.  When you save a route you have several different options but it will then give you a  key and a url

Thanks Stephen, found it with your help. What had flummoxed me was the fact that there is no load / save menu on the left hand side when displaying the route detail itself (ie what you see when you hit \"calculate route\"), only when you go back via \"route editor\" to the start page with just the from/to/via entries and the plan-for, trip-length etc input.

One other (related) question, if I may: Once I've saved a route, I get a page that gives me a shareable URL, e.g. https://canalplan.uk/journey/18566_OgTbr-81935

But once I've left the site, gone away, then come back and logged back in, I can find that saved route but I can't find the URL anywhere to (re)share it, or even just the saved key. What am I doing wrong?

thanks

You can see your saved routes by going to the load page but I agree there doesn't seem to be any way of getting the link without reloading it.

The best thing to do is to raise a feature request in the bug tracker.
