Nick's Canal Route Planner — CanalPlanAC — is an interactive guide to the inland waterways of Europe, it plans journeys, calculates the length (distance, number of locks, time taken etc) of your trip and shows gazetteer information on places along the way (pubs, shops and museums). If you have never used the software before, I recommend that you read the introduction before going any further, and then come back again.

The main CanalPlanAC system is down at the moment, so all requests are being redirected to this development version. If you want to report a bug or request a new feature, please follow the link to the "project page" below and enter it there.

This is the static index page, which is displayed if you don't have Javascript turned on (if you are certain you have Javascript enabled, and can still see this page, then you have found a bug). Javascript is used all over the place in this verison of CanalPlanAC and you are likely to find it very painful to use (for example you will not be able to change any preferences). Nevertheless, basic planning should be possible and the links have been left in place for that reason. But if you have any option to turn Javascript on I recommend you take it for this site
